Someone I know registered for classes and ended up not going to a single class and dropped out and ended up going to the military and deploying to the Middle East. 3 years later he gets served papers saying he is getting sued for not paying the semester for classes he never went to. Total he owed $9,000. After interest and fees, now he owes $15,000 for classes he never attended. He tried to contact people to help him and they were very rude and said if he went to the news station that they would sue for “spreading lies”(slander). This is a very crooked college who only just wants money. Very unfortunate about what happened to the football student as well. God bless his family. This college is a waste of time and money do not recommend.

The new construction of the Math and Science building is winding down the landscaping was completed on June 30, 2021. Treys landscaping Service out of Ruston Louisiana has created many modern views around this new addition to the university. Northwestern State Universities visitors students alumni and staff will enjoy their creation that turned the barren red clay busted concrete chunks sticks twigs and other debris of a construction site into a lush lawn with red tailed cypress and oak trees also maintenance free ornamental grass raised beds bordering the main entrance. What a transformation and compliments the architecture which is quite impressive itself I must say! The down spouts (chains) are my favorite 😐 don't judge it's the little things... Furniture and interior design decor is being moved in and systems tested soon the doors will be open and students eager to learn will be satisfied in a state of the art facility with an awesome landscape. Wish it would rain so I could experience the down spout chains in action🌞but it's just a beautiful day with the closest thing to rain here in central Louisiana you'll find is the high humidity lol 🥵! I'll add more photos when I figure out where I put them 🙄

Coming from a student, this is an averagely mediocre school. There are some select professors that are great, but the real kicker is the security issues and the financial aid. Generally the beginning of school there’s always people who break into cars, and just do very sketchy activities. The financial aid office is abysmal. This isn’t anything to any specific worker, but rather how things are done. From random charges to things being lost, it really is a headache especially when you’re a broke college kid and the fifth day of school they’re posting bills at your door and threatening that you can’t continue school because they need their pay. The medical and psych programs are great though, absolutely some of the best in the state. Just be warned if these issues

This is not the school you want to attend nor send your child to. POOR SECURITY, High rates of violent crime, A high history of covering up violent crime, poor support , high active shooter situations , poor staffing (football coaches and counselors ), lack of being involved is students safety on campus ! I DO NOT recommend this school , your child will not be safe here !

Great school. Grounds are always clean and kept up. Sporting events are very well maintained.

Some of the school affiliates have been very nice and helpful, especially with getting some of my credits from my other school to take care of some of their requirements. I only had 1 bad experience and that's with a lady from the Financial Aid office. I called because I didn't understand a requirement and not for an attitude. Plan to try to just finish up my degree ASAP, but if I can find a different school I will definitely transfer. Overall, I still like NSU.

Northwestern State is my Alma Mater. I had a great experience there earning my degree, and also met and married my wife of 53 years. We both have enjoyed the friends we made there. We have returned for 2 Golden Jubilee celebrations which were great and allowed us to renew friendships from our days at NSU.

Northwestern State University is my Alma Mater. I enjoyed every minute of my life there, my classes, my professors, my fellow students...it was a wonderful life experience that continues to pay big dividends to this very day. I was part of Northwestern's Centennial Class of 1984. Many of my professors and mentors have "crossed over" but will never be forgotten. They earnestly taught every student to the best of their ability and in many cases I witnessed went above and beyond to assist students with classwork, student jobs, scholarships, student loans, graduate school, letters of introduction and recommendation and their most important thing.....the gift of their time. I can honestly say that attending NSU was more like being adopted into a close-knit family than just going off to school. I now have a PhD from a pretty recognized University in the Northeast. Everybody has heard of it but more should hear of Northwestern State University of Louisiana because with a good, firm foundation, "a good liberal education", as my Dean Dr. George Stokes once told me, you can go anywhere and do anything you choose. I really believe that some of the best years of my life was upon the three columned campus of the Old Normal School. Go Demons!!!
